Dog Portrait Day

After carrying out several portrait sessions in the studio using various lighting methods I felt it was important to create a group of images which were all to the same standard and focused soley on head shots of each dogs and used the same lighting set up. The most sucessful in my mind was the 3 light set up with a grey background which was how i chose to shoot the the final portraits.

I wanted to make the portraits more personal and link in the thoughts I had which are that our companions are almost human - in the ways we treat them and the love we have for them. So to find out more about each dog so i put together a few questions for each owner to answer about their Dog before the photo shoot. The questions were, Name, Breed, Age, Likes, Dislikes, and If I Was Human I Would Be...?

As i wanted to photography a wide selection of breeds I put out an 'advertisment' for the project on my Facebook profile and photography page, below is the advert and some of the feedback i received with regards to the photo shoot...

As I received so much interest I extended the photo shoots and photographed 16 dogs on the Wednesday and 3 more on the Friday. The following posts of each dog are from the photo day and use the same lighting set up. I also did one last shoot on the Sunday of a Weimaraner Lily which had to be shot differently due to my equipment, i will put full details on the individual post .
